NEW! The
Virtual Moderator; new techniques for a new role
More info
Projects need project managers and you most likely trained
many people with face to face facilitation techniques over the years. Others
will have received training in how to use their computers. However,
the ability to bring together the technology and the new virtual ways of
working is an entirely new skill. Just as you would not dream of handing
over the keys of your new car to an unlicensed driver, even the most experienced
facilitator can have a hard time getting the virtual world to work well. It’s
different.
In this course you have a number of options. You can choose
to start off by doing some face to face work to get started and then switch
to working virtually as a group, so you can develop your skills and practice
your learning. Or it can be virtual from the start.

The
ABCs of win-win relationships
More
Info
The cost of poor relationships are clear: mistrust and suspicion diminishes
teamwork; we-they turf battles deplete the achievement of common
goals; finger-pointing and blaming drive out successful collaboration;
fear and caution replace risk-taking, creativity and innovation. Delivering
improvement requires you to demonstrate not only an understanding and application
of improvement science, but also an awareness of your own and others’ behaviour
and its consequences. This is an in-depth and intensive Masterclass
that will introduce and support you learning about your own behavioural
strengths and provide you with an introduction into some techniques for
developing win-win relationships.

The
learning experience; or....engaging adults without resorting to
PowerPoint!
More Info
We know that adults learn best when they are involved
and participate directly in their own learning process - from design
and process, through to completion. So often training courses and workshops
rely on lectures and manuals to deliver content. For a few learners,
this works - for many, this limits their experience. This masterclass
is designed, in content and process, to provide you with the experience
and techniques to develop your confidence in using alternative methods
with your participants.

The
Challenge of personal leadership; coping with calamities – survival
strategies for leaders
More Info
The Chinese symbol, or pictograph, for the word crisis is a composite of
two other pictographs: the symbol for “danger” and the symbol for “
opportunity ”. For thousands of years, the Chinese have known that a crisis can be a dangerous
time but also an opportunity. Human beings are by nature creative and
the continuing speed by which our world is changing about us, and the
increasing likelihood that we will experience our own “calamity”,
demands that we, as leaders, find a way to tap into our own resources. We’ll
find a way to do this through reflection, self-awareness, a decisiveness
of action and a consideration for the future. In this workshop we’ll
use a modicum of theory and then a significant amount of experiential
learning. We’ll be working with our own case studies, experiences
and knowledge. Most of the time will be spent working in small
groups, pairs and also on your own, reflecting on lessons and plans.

Accelerating
the spread of better practice; an update
More Info
This workshop will take you beyond the marketing models and the Roger’s
Diffusion of Innovation curve that you may have encountered previously. Over
the past seven years I have struggled with why it is we find it so difficult
to implement the “copying” strategy in healthcare. At times
we are our worst enemy in the way we employ techniques and tools. In this
session we’ll explore how our mental models and theories may be holding
us back, and we’ll explore some radial new spread technologies that are
being used in industry and in healthcare – mostly not yet in the NHS. So
if you’re ready to be challenged, then this workshop is for you!

'Not every improvement is a change but every change is an improvement'
The use of data is central to improving health care. But it needs to be used
wisely and effectively. Through discussion and practical demonstration participants
in this one day workshop will understand the philosophical issues around involving
individuals in the use of data and how to use measurement for effective improvement.
The workshop will help participants understand the more advanced issues surrounding
measurement as well as covering some basic ground.

Waste
not, want not; reducing waste in healthcare organisations
More Info
Facing a deficit budget? Worried about how to continue to strive for
continuous quality improvement? This session is designed to build on your existing
knowledge of improvement science by focusing on the concept of waste within
your organisational processes. The spotlight will be on administrative
and organisational core processes such as human resources, supplies, finances,
maintenance and the like, rather than the clinical aspect of patient processes. However,
the waste within patient processes will also be covered. We’ll use
case studies to identify eight different types of waste and then work through
how to measure and then reduce the costs involved.

Designing
and delivering effective educational workshops
More Info
It’s all too easy to invite a group of people together and then call
it a workshop. Sometimes you may have important ideas, concepts and materials
that you need individuals and groups to learn about and apply back in their
workplace. In this learning workshop, you’ll learn about some of
the relevant educational theories and get a chance to put them into practice. The
emphasis is on designing and delivering a short programme that demonstrates
value for money by supporting participants to transfer learning into their
own environments. This workshop will suit both novice and experienced
facilitators, from managerial, practitioner and educational backgrounds.

another – possibly based in a separate organisation, working to different
priorities and goals. How can you develop a win:win relationship? In
this session we’ll explore some of the strategic and operational issues
that may arise and discuss ideas on how to overcome them. We’ll
introduce some practical techniques such as group decision making as well as
developing agendas that work for disparate groups..
